Kieran Moynihan, Tivoli Vice President & CTO Telecoms, IBM Software Group
Chairperson, 2010 Genesis Adjudication Panel
As a former participant in Genesis 1999, Kieran Moynihan was the 2008 recipient of the inaugural Genesis Enterprise Programme Alumnus Award. Kieran is a dynamic telecommunications industry executive with over 16 years experience across the telecoms infrastructure and software sectors. After a very successful 8 years in Motorola’s wireless infrastructure group, Kieran co-founded Comnitel, a wireless service management company in 1999 and led the company as CEO from initial start-up through a 30 million-dollar series of fundraising with leading international venture capitalists. Over the period 2003 – 2007 Kieran drove product and go-to-market strategy as Chief Technology Officer for Vallent (a combination of Comnitel, Metrica and WatchMark). Since the acquisition of Vallent by IBM in February 2007, Kieran has taken on the role of Vice President and CTO for Telecoms for the IBM Tivoli division and has taken on a visionary role for IBM’s overall telecoms business worldwide. Kieran graduated in 1991 with a first class honours degree in Electrical Engineering at University College Cork.
Frank Madden, CEO, Crest Solutions
Frank Madden is the founder and CEO of Crest Solutions. Frank is a renowned expert in the field of vision engineering and it is against this background that he founded Crest Solutions in 1998. Frank has built the company through hiring the brightest talents in the field and has been a committed advocate of constant innovation through investment in research and development. Frank is dedicated to making Crest Solutions a leading vision engineering solutions provider to the pharmaceutical and medical device industries worldwide and leads the sales function within Crest Solutions, in addition to his role as CEO. Frank has a background steeped in manufacturing for the electronics industry in Ireland and internationally. Prior to founding Crest Solutions, he played an integral part in the team responsible for manufacturing at Apple Computers in Ireland. He has also worked in an engineering and manufacturing capacity at Concurrent Ltd. and Alps Electric. Frank is a graduate in Electronics Engineering and has studied in both Cork and Sligo Institutes of Technology. Frank received the 2009 Genesis Alumni Award which is presented annually. The award pays tribute to an Alumnus of Genesis who has made substantial achievements in their commercial field or has contributed in a significant way to the economic development of knowledge based businesses in the region.
Ian Venner, Director, Ernst & Young
Ian is a director in Ernst & Young’s assurance practice in Cork and has over 10 years experience in providing advice to a wide range of clients ranging from entrepreneurial growth companies to large multinationals and indigenous businesses. Ian also has significant experience in transaction advisory services including due diligence, business planning, valuations and corporate restructuring. In more than 125 cities in 40 countries worldwide, Ernst & Young presents its annual Entrepreneur Of The Year® (EOY) award to the most successful and innovative entrepreneurial business leaders around the globe.
John O’Doherty, Regional Director, AIB
John has extensive experience in branch banking, business credit underwriting and in various sales manager roles. He has been recently appointed as Regional Director, Cork Central Region with responsibility for 24 branches, following a period of four years as Regional Director in Kerry. Previous roles included Area Sales Manager and eight years as a Lending Manager across a number of regions in Munster.
Colin Walsh, Group Marketing Manager, Thomas Crosbie Holdings Limited
A native of Cork and a graduate of the University of Limerick, Colin is the Group Marketing Manager for Thomas Crosbie Holdings Limited (TCH) and former Head of Marketing for Punch Industries. Based in Cork, TCH is one of Ireland’s major newspaper groups, publishing the Irish Examiner and the Sunday Business Post as well as ten regional titles. TCH also has investments in Radio and Internet ventures, including Thomas Crosbie Media (TCM), a leading digital business. TCM manages TCH’s extensive media brands online and has developed one of Ireland’s premier content sales networks.
