About the Genesis Enterprise Programme

The Genesis Enterprise Programme has been in operation since 1998. The focus of the Genesis Enterprise Programme is to provide a package of supports to the entrepreneur in the South West Region (Cork and Kerry) in accelerating the development of their business in the first 12 months of operation.

Businesses from diverse sectors have participated in the past including Food, Information Technology, Biotech, Telecommunications, Renewable Energy, Medical Device and Automotive. The key criteria for eligibility are that the business is knowledge based and has export potential.

The Programme is currently funded by the Department of Education and Science and Enterprise Ireland under the National Development Plan, 2000 to 2006.

The Genesis Enterprise Programme is administered by the Cork Institute of Technology in partnership with 9 other regional and national organizations, University College Cork, Enterprise Ireland, the 4 Cork City & County Enterprise Boards (Cork City, Cork North, South Cork, West Cork),Údarás Na Gaeltachta, and Cork BIC. Together, representatives of these organizations form the Genesis Steering Group which oversees the programme.

A dedicated and experienced Programme Manager manages the Programme. The role of the Programme Manager is to operate the programme on a day to day basis and liaise between the Genesis Steering Group and the programme participants.
